There are lots of posts here about surgeons in Mexico. In a nutshell, they are professional, the hospitals are clean, and they take good care of you.

Are You From Justin Texas.

I Had Glb Surgery On Feb. 23, 2007 In Monterrey Mexico. My Family Flipped When I Mentioned Mexico Also. They Slowly Came Around Though. Dr. Zapata In Monterrey Is Wonderful And The Hospital There Is Awsome. Everythng About The Trip Was Great. Please Dont Let Anyone Stand In The Way Of Your Weight Loss. I Was Self-pay And I Just Could Not Pay The $15,000.00 That The Surgery Cost In Dallas. I Paid $6,990.00 And That Included The Surgery, 2 Nights At The Sheraton Hotel And One Night In The Hospital(absolutely Beautiful). I Can't Say That I Did Not Worry Alot Before The Surgery About Being In Mexico. But A Month After Surgery And 22 Lbs Lighter I Would Highly Recommend Dr. Zapata In Monterrey Mexico.

Hi there and Welcome!

I too was looking into Mexico and my family and friends flipped! I was still considering it BUT. I was checking on a couple of the doctors from Mexico that said they have a list of doctors in the US that will do fills for mexico bands placed. Long story short, I was given a list of several doctors in my state and when I called the first 3, they denied and said they will not in any fashion see me if I go to mexico. Luckily the 4th doctor said why go there when they offer it for $9.950.00. That is for the entire surgery, consultation, nutritionist, psyc, 3 months post surgery follow ups and fills. After that the fills are a minimal cost (and I do mean minimal).

There are lots of folks here at LBT that have gone down to Mexico and are very happy. My 2 cents is to really research and ask questions and make sure that is where you want to go and that you have a place for after so you can get fills or if problems occur. The doc that I am using has a very simple website but, he is very nice. There is a thread under doc's of others who have/will use him.

Good luck in your search and best wishes on your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
