Anticipation leading up to the surgery is the worst! However, the process itself will be over before you know it.

I'm a little over 8 months and it is amazing that it all seems so long ago! :D

You are in for one heck of a journey! Follow doc's orders to the letter and walk as much as possible after the surgery (trust me, it'll help the recovery go much easier).

Good luck!

8 months out

Before and After

The before pics were taken February 2013, after pics in December 2013.

Don't rush the process. Follow doc's orders (no, it's not okay to cheat a little...follow the plan!) and as soon as comfortable, get to moving around (which will be much easier without the extra lbs., I promise!), whether it's walking, swimming, biking...whatever, just do it!

You're in for one helluva journey! Regardless of what others may say or think, you aren't taking the "easy way out"...it's going to be work, but you can/will be able to do it and come out on the other side loving life! :D

Great job! :) I am prepared to do the work and I know it won't be easy. I quit smoking a few months ago and I am ending my love for diet coke tomorrow. It's gonna be a tough journey, but I'm ready to be back on the other side! I have already been hearing how it's the "easy" way out, some people have no clue and that's why I'm glad I found this site!!! I can't wait to have before and after pics :)

This cracked me up a bit. I came out of surgery and when I was finally in my hospital room, I looked around and wondered why I was even there because I hadn't had surgery. I was so high on painkillers I didn't realize I had had surgery already. I took me looking down my hospital gown to realize I had in fact had five new holes in me. I wish you well in your days before surgery! It IS real!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
