On January 9th of this year marked my 1 year anniversary of having the Sleeve surgery! I am so happy with my results and truly love my sleeve.

I started this journey at 228lbs. I had to do the 6 month supervised diet so 10 months later, the day of surgery i was 203lbs. On January 9, 2014 i weighed in at 135lbs.

I have learned to use my tool and know what my limits are and what my slider foods are. I am very aware of what goes in my mouth as opposed to before i had surgery where i ate or drank whatever i wanted. It has to be worth something good for me to eat it.

Things i would have done differently: Definitely Exercise more! I didn't start going to the gym until 5 months post op. Pure laziness in my part. So if i can give a newbie any advice at all is to definitely exercise and take advantage of the first 6 months post op because that is when you will see the weight fly off your body. After 6 months i noticed that my weight loss slowed down alot. I still lost weight but it was minimal.

Here is a before picture and a picture that was taken at 10 months post op.

Oh my! You look Beautiful!! :) Question.....I am 4 weeks post op today. I want to exercise but I don't have the energy to start! I really to want to take advantage but how can I get started. My PA asked me if I was interested in working out, I told yes. She just said "OK, that's good". I just don't have the energy. What suggestion do you have. I walk for 10 min every 4 hours....I still scared of the blood clots.

Congrats! I can't wait until it's my turn :)

Start out small! Go for a walk. As you start to consume more food you will have more energy and then you just keep adding to that. Dont expect to run a marathon over night. But do something! That was my biggest mistake. My Vitamin & Iron deficiencies early on were a big problem for me because i did not have the energy to do anything but once that all got straightened out I started to walk on the treadmill and little by little added to it. Exercising doesn't have to be done at the gym. Find something that you like and then stick to it :)

Good luck to you!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
