Hey Rachael,

Good for you for reaching out and recognizing change needs to be made.

I visited my Dr yesterday and was told while counting calories wasn't as important, keep you Protein over 70g, your carbs under 100g and fat under 30g. By following these it should be easy to keep your calories under 1200.

Feel free to join me on My Fitness Pal if you'd like . My username is xmarycontraryx.

Best of luck!

The PA at my surgeon's office said calories should be 800 to 1,200. Protein first, then veggies, then a healthy carb if not already full. I try to get anywhere from 60 to 100 grams of protein per day.

Stop beating yourself up over this - it's not failure when you fall down, it's failure when you don't get back up after falling. I'm willing to bet every person on this board has had their moments, I sure have.

Get yourself on MFP, get an accountability partner, and get back on track! :)

I have been at the same weight now for 8 months. I was just put on a 600-800 calorie restriction. I'm on day 2. I didn't think I would start to loose again so quickly, but I am. This makes it soooo much easier to pass up the pigs in a blanket I made for my family.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
