Recommended Posts

Hi. I'm looking for a dr who performs the POSE procedure, but it is only in trial stages in Louisiana. Does anyone have any recomendations?? Thanks a bunch

The surgeon I'm looking into here in my area (DC metro region) had the procedure listed on his website. I'm hoping to attend a seminar tomorrow evening, so hopefully he will mention it. Like you mentioned though, it's still in trial stages and on his website he stated that insurance would not cover it.

My main incision is in my navel. Six weeks post op no scars are even visible. They were tiny anyway LOL! Just for your info~

Yeah, Howard's website said it was a revision, but I'm not sure if Dr. Umbach's facility performs is as such. Sorta confusing lol.

I hear ya. POSE sounds interesting but the thing that bothers me about it is that there isn't a lot of data out there.

Yeah, I don't want to be a guinea pig for a new procedure. That's part of why I like the band option. They went through my belly button so the scar is hidden. The band has been around for a very long time for long term studies. I have a pretty good idea as to what I've gotten myself into. I have a decent understanding of the success rates 10 years out, mortality, weight regain, revisions, etc.

Good luck on your research.

I had it done. II lost around 18 LLb and was over the moon. Of course I was on shakes and fluids for a few weeks after and slowly introducing soft foods. It is a in out procedure but I have to say I felt very ill on the first night and wish id stayed in hospital . In one year I easily gained the weight back. I did try very hard after spending all that money but the appetite soon returns to normal and the desire to enjoy your food. It the worst thing I have ever done, spending 9000 euros on the POSE. Id not recommend this to anyone. The only thing it has given me is acid every night.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
