Hi July sleevers, I had my op on 31.07.12 and have lost a lot of weight about 25kg. I was just curious how are others feeling in regards to General well being and the eating, do any of you find you can eat more but still in smaller quantities( if that makes sense). I am considering going back on the Optifast shakes and Soups to feel lighter. Thank you . From Perthsleeve

lost a lot of weight about 25kg.

perth

one kg = 2.2 lbs, right

so in the past 5 months you have lost 55 lb!! :)

wonderful :)

at 5 months your stomach has probably "relaxed" (not stretched) a bit - allowing you to eat slightly larger portions

"this"is normal - happens to many/most/all of us over a time period

the expression "just because you can, doesn't mean you should!"

ie, just cuz you are able to consume 12 oz of chicken (stretching a point to make a point)you should/need to eat only 4 oz or so

not sure why you are concerned enough about your weight loss to think about trying something else also??

if you want to do only liquids for a bit to jump start an additional weight loss, thats fine

i think the rule of thumb is losing 10 lbs a month is good

might be more sometimes or less

i think you are doing great

btw - at 5 months PO, things were going well with me

i'm not a July sleever :( hope you didn't mind me talking to you ;)

keep up the good job

2014 will be a great new year

kathy

congrats

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
