Post Op ? About Thighs/Skin

Recommended Posts

Was sleeved a little over two and a half months ago, and have now reached doctors goal weight, am now 5'8 and under 176. As expected I've noticed my legs are skinny, but thighs are flabby. Just looking for some advice on any exercises as well as some tricks to hide it so I'm a little less self conscious about it. Thanks :-)

Wow! Congrats! And I'm jealous. :-) I hope to be at my goal before May. I know what you mean about the flab and loose skin. My husband caught me prodding mine yesterday and said "Rome wasn't built in a day".

I know plastic surgery is the answer for a lot of people and I never say never, but I'm really not interested in another surgery. I've had 10+ and most have been in the last 5 years.

For me, I'm hitting the gym and mixing weight training with cardio. When I'm on the road and not sure about what I'll have at the hotel gym, I pack a set of resistance bands so I can try to keep up. I don't know yet how effective it's going to be in the long run. I also massage skin cream in every day. No idea how much that helps, but it does make me feel good.

I did try a hot yoga class yesterday and although I did much better than I could have pre-op, I kept hearing John Pinette's voice (comedian who talked about his yoga experience). Also, it turns out I have no sense of balance, just a little flexibility and I'm not fond of exercising in an environment akin to a Houston summer (kidding, I liked the heat part but I had to get a dig into Houston). I do think that yoga will be a good addition to my regime, but I think I'm going to stick to a home DVD for right now.

Good luck!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
