6'4? did you lose 100lbs?

Recommended Posts

Sorry I misread your question. I thought you asked about pre op diets. Every surgeon has their own set of guidelines. I would still suggest that you speak with a NUT that is affiliated with the surgeon to see what they recommend.

I had surgery December 23. I am still on a liquid diet util January 15.

I'm 6'6". A weight of 180 lbs would be too low for someone your height, in my opinion.

At my peak in August 1999, I was 362, and at my low (August 2013), I was 209. I felt 209 was really too low for me. I had been stabilized at about 215 for 3-4 months, but stopped jogging because of the cold. I'm up to 220, which is giving me panic attacks (kidding, sort of), but even this level is generating nice comments from people.

Pics in my gallery. Videos at my blog.

I was referring to long term post op diet. Beyond liquid and soft food diets. Also I was interested in everyone experiences regarding us taller and larger guys in respects to exercise methods. like what works best & when to do exercising. With us being over 6ft and 390 plus, we tend to loose weight faster than most others in this lifestyle. I want to loose the weight, but do it in a healthy manor and have a routine that is safe. I hope that makes sense. LOL

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
