Hello Mona. Compliments for you for maintaining your weight loss. That's fantastic. I am sure there are many newbies who will be contacting you. You are so nice to offer yourself. I wondered what part of the worked you come from? Hope to become friends with you. Hugs Ilene.

Hi Mona

I would love a mentor. It is so motivating to talk to people who have been successful, and who know what it's like to have similar experiences.

I had my surgery in August and feel it's been the best decision I have made. I feel I am on a journey, and their will be some downs, but up to now they are mostly ups. I feel so much fitter and healthier, and for the first time in my life don't feel controlled by food.

I would love to hear about your experiences. Sally x

Monymo...I was banded in aug. I've lost about 25 lbs. I'm on weight gaining psychiatric drugs...diabetic...low thyroid..and having alot pbing...don't eat enough right things...not enough Protein...don't know what to fix...I'm a mess. I have short term memory problems. I've had problems from day 1 but also have had some success...I don't overeat...I don't snack alot once in awhile. I can go several days eating the same thing then the next time food won't stay down then it goes another couple days and does the same thing. I'm not having 2nd thoughts about the band I'm having 2nd and 3rd thoughts about what I am doing wrong. Can you help or do I sound like too much of a buden?

Hi, you need to go back to the basics. What are your surgeons rules? Eat Protein fruit and veggies. Are you eating slowly? Are you putting your fork down between bites? Eating off of a salad plate? Are you drinking fluids 10 calories or less between meals? Do you only eat when you are hungry? Get a copy of your surgeons rules. If you are pbing often either you are too tight or eating too fast or too big of bites. Let me know how you are doing. Mona

Since the holidays are basically over I have made a resolution to get myself to exercise. I just need to start. I take 22 pills a day and concerned about a fill that I might not get them down. I am hungry inbetween meals still pbing so have to address that.. I di need to go over and commit again. I'm not gaing but not really losing. Today I made Atkins like breakfasts and put them in the freezer. lunch is hard but usually try to eat greek yogurt or cottage cheese and fruit. dinner lean gr bef, tilapia fried w olive oil. I can only it it if its very most although the crispy outside makes it appealing. I've tried baked tilapia and salmon but both times at a restaurant I had to send them back.. I try to stay away from Protein smoothies but sometimes food just won't go down no matter what I do. But it's seldom. I will continue to stop snacking (once-in-awhile) and very little. But I do need to talk to my dr about getting a small fill. I see him 1st part of Jan. We'll see if he will. Thanks for listening and responding.

Hi Mona! Miss seeing you!

I was just thinking about posting for a mentor to help keep me accountable for being sure I am getting in workouts each week. I have made some major life changes and just started working out again. I have set up a spare room at home to be my gym so that I can have a dedicated spot to get at it.

Anyway if you can stop by and check in on me every few days if you have time, I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi Cindy, how are you doing? Good for you that you have an exercise room set up. How is the eating going? Are you making healthy choices? Taking your time when you eat? Putting your fork down in between each bite? Using a salad plate to eat your food? Good luck in your journey. Mona

Hi Mona......

All I can say at this point is.........HELP! I had my surgery December 11, 2009. I did GREAT for awhile. Started at 261, got down to 153.........Then, in October of last year, I got laid off, went on paxil for depression and found out my thyroid was acting up again and was through the roof on the numbers. I have the under active thyroid, hence the reason I needed the lap band. Well, I have now hit a whopping 178 on the scale, I feel like crap, I've gone from a size 10 to a 14, pushng a 16, and literally, by the day, it feels like I am gaining. I was throwing up daily, now I only throw up at night or first thing in the morning from the intense acid. I'm seriously depressed and don't know what is wrong. I'm so upset.

Hi Mona

I would love to have a mentor like you. I was banded on March 5th, so that makes me 10 days post op. It is all so new. I am not sure to handle the next phase of my diet. I don't see my Dr until Wednesday. This afternoon I ate a soft scrambled egg. So far so good. I just am trying to read my book from nutrition class.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
