Im wondering if anyone cut it as close as im going to need to and how they did. I know everyone recovers differently- just looking for some averages here. I am a retail manager and can only take, at the most, 11 days off work. Was anyone else back this quickly? Im reading all the post op threads here and getting a little nervous!

I am a retail store manager and had my procedure done on a Monday and was back to work the following Monday. I really had no issues other than being a little tired, by my 3rd day back I was working my usual 12 hour days.

I work from home teaching internet classes and I took two weeks off. My biggest problems on return to work were sitting for long periods hurt my abdomen and concentration, concentration was definitely harder! I think you will be okay !

I have an office job and could have gone back to work in a week or so. I chose to take off 3 weeks but I was definitely restless and eager to go back after 2. Recovery is different for eveyone but I think you should be fine.

I am a one person cleaning crew at a 225 unit apartment complex.

I ended up resuming very light duty 2 weeks post op. I didn't have the stamina to resume my full duties so I had to have help. I also was on only liquids until week 4 post op tho, so it's possible that my lack of stamina was because of that.

I have an office job. I took 1 week & 3 days off. Still suffered from soreness in the large incision, but the moving around helped.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
