It was drilled to me that Water is a big part of success and since the begging I can drink juice and water just like before I don't have to sip I can take big drinks.< /p>

This is so interesting. You are the only one that has said this on the forum. Everyone here says that they struggle to get their 48-64oz in daily.

Have you asked your doctor why?

Is your pouch the right size?

How much Water are you drinking per gulp?

Sorry so many questions just so fascinating!

When you say that you can drink freely. Are you saying that you can drink up to 12 oz or you're not sipping and just gulping it without taking a pause? For myself I have noticed it doesn't take me long to down my shake, but when I drink water, juice, etc. I do sip because it feels very funny going down.

If you are losing weight, then you are alright. I want to gulp like I do now. Also, just like T8k asked, is it 24oz in one sitting or more?

I never had any trouble with drinking, even shortly after surgery. I was able to drink Water pretty freely too. I tried the sipping but had a hard time with it! :)

I can drink normally now for the most part. Once in a while I will drink too fast or too much and then I get the pressure feeling in the chest. Ask your surgeon to be sure it is ok for you just to be sure though!

Im the same way..never had any problems with drinking, either. I gulp a lot, never did sip. Drank 30 ounces of Water one week post op thru a straw with no problem. We are lucky to have one less thing to worry about:-)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
