Food ideas to bring to work?

Recommended Posts

I'm 6-7 weeks out. Full diet now. Need some quick and easy ideas of food I can pack for my work lunch. No tuna! I hate it. Right now I bring a Greek yogurt, a Protein shake, low fat string cheese and then I'll usually go buy a meatball from the Italian place next door or a grilled chicken wrap from mc Donald's minus the wrap part. But I'm trying to get away from spending $ eating out. Ideas???

Thanks!!

Nuts if you can have them. Deli meat rolled around cheese. Buy a bag of frozen meatballs and cook a few at home in spaghetti sauce or whatever. I also bought a couple Atkins frozen dinner, they were 3 meals for me but the chicken and broccoli Alfredo reheated pretty good. Canned chicken for chicken salad. Protein Bars. That's what I take. I work 12 hour shifts so I bring a lot.

I grill 4 chicken breasts at the beginning of the week and depending on how big they are...I divide them into 2-3 ounces. I pack them into containers and then pack something else with them to go in my lunch box. The side will be something like sliced cucumbers or an apple or green Beans or a little salad. I find that if I have something cooked and ready to go, it is easy to add a side and I am good to go for a meal. I tend to work long hours so I always pack something extra, like cottage cheese just in case I need something. It really has made all the difference in staying on track with food. Good luck on finding the "thing" that works for you.

chicken salad with crackers? lunch meat and cheese roll ups? fruit cups? Boston market frozen bowls? (they have grilled chicken or turkey with veggies and mashed potatoes. by the time I get to the potatoes I'm usually full) Grilled chicken strips, I buy family packs of chicken, cook for my family and then use leftover pan seared seasoned chicken for lunch the next day, with leftover veggies. salad with grilled meat, lunch meat or chicken. Make homemade meatballs and reheat them at work. Soup, beef and veggie, or chicken Soup. It's easy to pack lunches if you make a little extra for dinner and then pack leftovers for lunch.

Trail mix as a snack.< /p>

I like to cook and bring what I cooked to work through the week. Sunday I cooked a big thing of ground turkey, a spaghetti squash and 2 jars of good Tomato sauce. I pack that up and have been eating on that for a few days now. I bring a greek yogurt as well and that's pretty much all I eat while I am at work all day.

I also do some "pre-cooking" on the weekend so that I have lunches to take during the week because I also don't like spending for lunch out when I'm only eating a few bites of it. I've done the chicken breasts divided individually wrapped like someone else said. chicken salad, egg salad, hard boiled eggs (pickled or not), frozen meatballs individually cooked, chili, etc.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
