Labs on Thursday. They said give it 3-5 days after that and we're going to OR!

I'm like Jessie Spano from Saved by the Bell. So excited but SO SCARED.

I know I'll do fine. I'm in a good head space. I'm following my diet and exercise regime to the letter. Except for that one time because donuts are delicious and ones my employer pays for taste even better.

Of course today I feel like I've got a cold coming on which is the last thing I need. But I have hot tea, hot Soup and some robutussin at the house.

But I'm happy.

Good for you, Hanna! Hope your bug bugs out before the day. I don't think it will stop you if it hangs around, though.

Keep the happy going! :D

I had to tell one of my work committees about it yesterday because I'm chair and they'll have to handle stuff while I'm away and two of them were like "NO DON'T DO IT! WE CAN HELP YOU!"

And I was like, "Babies, I've been fat since puberty. I've been on every doctor-supervised weight loss regimen out there. There's nothing you can do for me that science hasn't already tried."

But they meant well and it was coming from a place of concern and love.

To most folks an operation is a drastic thing, this is no exception. In my case and probably in yours, drastic action is needed. I would have been dead within a year if I had not lost the 130 pounds, I am certain.

Also, most people know little about the gastric sleeve or any weight loss surgery. Darkness is scary. :D

LABS DONE!

There were shenanigans with the Upper GI machine. I had to swallow pop rocks from Hell and chase it with Barium only to have the machine keel over before they could take pictures of my stomach.

I got sent over to the main hospital where they just did barium and I got to see pictures of my tummy. Which was cool.

Now I wait.

I don't have a date yet, but I'm assuming it's soon!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
