When did your pain end completely?

Recommended Posts

I'm two weeks out now, and most of the pain is gone except for where the lap band is in my left side. I can't bend down to tie my shoes, and sometimes getting in and out of the car hurts.

Talked to the doc, and he said not to worry so I'm not. Just curious when you guys were completely pain free.

Thanks,

John

Just curious when you guys were completely pain free.

It took a good 4 weeks for all the pain to go away. My port site is still tender and I find myself protecting it with my hand when my cats jump on me or when my boyfriend is being affectionate. After a fill, the port area is especially sensitive for about 24 hours.

I dunno ladies....Texas? I've never given any thought to it. Whenever I go south of the border my Boston accent gives me away instantly. No hope of fitting in.

Thanks for the compliments though...hopefully I'll be much better after I drop a c-note off my gut and start working on the guns again.

I just hope this pain disappears soon. It's a real pain in the ass.

I know what you mean John, hopefully I'll be "smokin' hot" once I drop a c-note myself!! Can't wait for that day!

Sorry to hear you are having some pain. Hang in there another couple of weeks, maybe you'll be just about pain free by then.

You'll probably hear me talking about pain next week! I can't believe Monday is my big day! Seems like I've waited so long for this and now it's here. I'm very nervous and excited all at the same time. I have to be at Beth Israel at 6:00 a.m. on Monday. It takes me 2 hours to get in there so I'll be up early. Hopefully my roomate will quiet, I'll be tired! I would love the private room but an extra $150 out of my pocket is a bit expensive!

My port area was a little hard to get used to, also. Very aware of it, and it was hard to bend over, felt as though it wanted to pop out.

That is much better now.

It took almost 3 weeks for total discomfort to go away. What lasted for me, was the gas type pains in my shoulder and left rib area. They are finally now gone.

Actually, my port is placed above my belly button and slightly to the left. It's the largest incision, and doesn't bother me at all.

What bothers me is internally, near the band. My doctor told me that it's just the inflammation and will eventually die down. It's frustrating because I want to return to my athletics but it basically hurts to do so. I've worked through the pain, but like I said, I can't tie my shoes and can't bend over at the waist, for the most part. A good example is taking a drink of Water from the Water fountain--I have to put my left leg way behind me like I'm getting in the position for a 20 yard dash. :)

You might get a twinge of port pain a few weeks after you think you have healed. I'm on week 15 and just a couple of weeks ago I was a bit uncomfortable due to port pain but it was gone in a couple of days. I'm not really sure what causes that but others have mentioned the same.

Any pain at your band though? My port is fine. It's the band that's causing me problems.

It's right under the left side of my ribcage where the band sits. It's extremely sensitive inside...the incision itself is actually completely healed, so it's not that.

Nope....my doc specifically said my port is above the navel and slightly to the left for whatever reason. This area is where the band sits beneath the diaphragm. At least that's what he said.

Yeah, I specifically asked him if that's where the port was because I've been reading this board for a while now and everyone seems to have their port in that location.

He said no, it's above my navel beneath the largest incision, and I can actually feel a hard lump there if I press. The port area is painful but dull, not sharp.

Where my band sits is where I have the most pain, usually when I twist left to right the wrong way or when I bend over. I can bend over while sitting to tie my right shoe, but not my left, for example.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
