Gastric Bypass Revision 12/4/13

Recommended Posts

Had my first RNY in 2004. Went from 275 to 169 in 2008. Had some major life issues going on and developed an addiction to alcohol. Weighing 277 and clean, I had a revised RNY and multiple hernia repair on 12/4/13. Hoping for a better future, but fully aware that I have to make it so.

Yep. My pouch was originally 30cc (1 oz) in 2004 and measured 90cc (3 oz) just a couple of months ago. Drinking and eating to manage stress will do that, unfortunately. But, forward with hope. My revised pouch is around 20cc (2/3 of an oz). I think my surgeon wanted to teach me a lesson.

Congratulations on being clean! You deserve a pat on the back. Cheers to a wiser and successful journey ahead!

Does that mean even with sleeve ur stomach can expand again

The RNY is not exactly the same as the sleeve.

Thanks!Turns out the surgeon thinks he accidentally stapled one of the nerves in my abdomen when stapling up the puch, which is likely the culprit for the excruciating pain. He says the staples will dissolve and then the pain should be gone, but it could take months. His solution? Double up on the Lortab he prescribed for pain. Since I hate pain meds and narcotics, I'm hoping I can just grin and bear the pain until it goes away :PVery annoying!

I can definitely relate to your story. I had to have my surgery done twice, for some reason the first time I had it I couldn't keep anything down so 3 months after having 1st surgery I had to have a second surgery. The first was a sleeve the second was a bypass. With all the throwing up I was doing I develop a hernia. But before they could fix my hernia I'd developed an infection in my gallbladder which then had to be removed. After which followed with the reparation on my hernia. As of today I'm gladto say I'm about a hundred pounds lighter and also pretty healthy. So I'm sure as long as you're dedicated, with all the trouble you've had with your pass you will do fine. ♢♤♢♤♢

Good luck

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
