Hi, my name is Alicia, but I go by Lici.. I have been thinking about getting this done but I'm a dork and a chicken! A lil bit about me I'm 23 years old, And I'm about 4"11,and 212.. I know, thats so big. It just kills me. I have tried diets and working out. But I seem to lose 10 and then stop losing and get like 20 back. But now I'm not having cylces, and that bothers me because I'm newly married and I really want kids, So I want to know A should I do it? and will it keep me from having kids. And B will my insur pay for it. I have Feb Blue. Thank you all for any and all Info.

Hi Lici, Welcome to LBT. You will find the band a powerful tool to aid you to get the weight off, and keep it off. Of course we all still have to work the band every day, and hold up our end of the deal with exercise and correct eating practices. Congrats on being a newly wed too.

All the best.

Welcome to LBT Lici! I can't tell you whether you should do the band or not; you need to decide that. The fears that you have are completely normal! We have all had them. This is a big step but what an impact it can have on your life! The lapband should have no negative effects on you as far as having kids. My dh and I are certainly looking that way and my surgeon assured me that it wasn't a problem at all. They could just remove the liquid from the band and I would have a normal pregnancy. In fact, I could have a much healthier one because I have lost weight prior to getting pregnant.

As far as insurance, I don't know. Check your policy or give them a call and they could tell you. Every company/policy is different. One thing I have learned, if they deny you, fight, fight, fight. Don't give in easily!

Best of luck to you! Keep us updated on everything!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
