Kristina, I'm a Portland girl myself, scheduled for RNY Feb. 17th, my hubby is soon to follow in March but not so big on the support thing. Unfortunately that leaves me kinda like a liner on this journey for myself and a caretaker for his process!!!! Would love to follow your journey!

I'm just outside Portland in Happy Valley, did either of you use Emma Patterson for their surgeon? Just curious how the process went. I'm hoping for a surgery date in April but have to lose 30 pounds first.

Hi ~

I just joined this site today and have enjoyed exploring it. I just had my surgery last week at Salem Hospital. I met a couple of other ladies at the pre-op nutrition class who also had their surgeries last week. We have been keeping in touch for the past few weeks, supporting each other along the way. It's nice to see that there is also a forum/support system online. Good luck, everyone! This is going to be an amazing journey!

I'm 30 days post op and live in Portland, Oregon. Dr Patterson performed my surgery and so far it has been successful. One thing I have struggled with is getting prepared to make healthier dinners that I can eat with my family. I know that up to this point me eating the same food was not going to happen...but soon when I can eat "normal" I want nutrition to be #1

I am from Oregon City area, still pre-op hoping to have to my surgery in summer or early fall this year. I am a Kaiser patient so I just finished all the classes and have my nutrition and social worker apt in a few weeks. Fingers crossed they will send me through to review and get to meet with the surgeon at the end of may or June :) glad to see other ppl from the area on here.

I have my last appointment at Kaiser with dietician and social worker before surgery referrals tomorrow. I had my lapband removed last June by Dr. Kim. I guess soon I will be choosing surgeon for bypass. Wondering about others experience with Kaiser and how long it took from appointment I mention till surgery date? This has been a long journey as I was trying to do it on my own until December...

I had my last appoint with Tricia and Brenda on June 6th and I have my surg consult with Dr. Kim on July 29th still crossing my fingers for a sooner date. It looks like with Kaiser right now people are stating to schedule their surgeries in September already. There is a good pre-op support group on Facebook mainly for Kaiser patients if you haven't joined already. Good luck!

I love Dr.Kim, he is excellent. He checked on me 4 times last week because he knew I was traveling to a warmer climate and was worried about dehydration (having a hard time with fluids). It was like he took extra good care of me, my scars are tiny, I mean tiny and they didn't even bruise. I'll send you a pic if you'd like.

Dr. Kim is a favorite for sure! ANd Dehydration is the #1 reason why post ops end up in the ER hooked up to an IV for fludis. Take his advice.

Hi, I'm getting my surgery at OHSU on the 20th of January. Nervous and excited. I really want to just fast forward a few months.

I am in the Oregon City area also and will probably have surgery late August early September. My surgeon is dr Patterson. I have a 6 month insurance mandated waiting period but have had my initial evaluations and consults. So excited. If anyone in the area is going to a face to face support group I would be interested in attending

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
