Probiotics For Constipation?

Recommended Posts

So guess what? I think the Probiotics are working. Cautious optimism.

I'm on the road so I wasn't able to do anything except the probiotic. I'm using Align.

I too had researched on line and I thought that magnesium was the answer to all my problems(re:BM). So I tried it also taking about 1000 mg's a day.................It made me so backed up that I had to take a day off work and needless to say it was an awful experience and will NEVER take it again. I have been taking pearl probiotics(recommended on this site) and it has been a godsend, unbelievable how well it works actually. I actually grew an intolerance to Miralax after taking it for about a year, it just stopped working. I guess different remedies work for different people.

Ok how much magnesium are you guys taking? One night I was desperately searching the internet for solutions (I refuse to take anymore laxatives) and kept coming across magnesium. After hours of reading I decided this was the cure! So I hopped in my car and went to walgreens. I got exactly what I thought I needed, but figured I would ask the pharmacist just to be safe. She said absolutely not that it would help me. :( and said try miralax (been there, done that, only had bloating and cramps) so I left defeated empty handed. :( but I'm not so sure she just wasn't clueless. So, about this magnesium....how much helps? At this point I don't think anything will help.

I have to say, the Align has solved all issues for me. I've been out of it for a few days and the difference is obvious. I hope it works for someone else who tries it too. I might try the pearl ones, but what I like about Align is that it doesn't require refrigeration which allows me to put it in my pill box with my other Vitamins and ensure it gets taken.

I take Pearl and didn't have it for a few days and totally felt the difference. :)

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
