Protien Shake For The Lactose Intolerant

Recommended Posts

Since surgery I am sensitive to lactose, but can do SF pudding. I'm doing an awful job of getting Protein down. Can anyone suggest a Protein Shake that has worked for them if you are lactose sensitive?

Yes, I used powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Protein. After a few weeks I also did well with Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard whey Protein mixed with Soy Milk. After the first couple of weeks, I did well with Chobani or Fage plain Greek yogurt. I am2.5 years out Nd still can't have much dairy.

Muscle milk is tasty, I mix it with almond "milk" a half a banana and a frozen strawberry and Water to thin it.

The best is Isopure, mixes well with just straight Water, 50 grams of protien in two scoops. When you do the math, protein/$, this is the best.

I was lactose intolerant presurgery, assume I still am, and these don't bother me.

Have you tried taking lactaid pills? I often take 2 pills with my shake and that helps a lot.

I drink rockin' refuel by Shamrock Farms. It's lactose free. However, it's not whey Protein. I couldn't stomach that stuff no matter how hard I tried.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
