Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Recommended Posts

I have been in a stall for two weeks. Anyone have any tricks that got them out of their stalls and back on track? Thinking about going back to only Protein Shakes for a week to see if that helps.

I stall all the time, but my clothes keep getting looser so I put the scale away for a bit.

I know this will sound crazy, but do any of you feel awkward or not know how to take a compliment when people make comments about how much weight you've lost?? I didn't tell most of my coworkers, so now that people notice, I don't know what to say.

Doesn't sound crazy at all, I feel u! I feel SO awkward! I just say yes I have and don't continue the conversation. I also hate when people say "how many pounds have u lost?" How about, that's personal and I don't want to tell u?!

When i stall, I back to the basics...I go back to only Protein shakes for 2-3 days and that usually kicks it off for me.

I have not made it a secret I have had the sleeve done when people ask. I have been with my company for 15 years and most know I have struggled with lupus so I am used to the personal questions. I have only been bothered by it once so far in this process. I had a co worker notice I colored my hair darker so he decided to yell across the room with many individual's present. "So does the gastric sleeve make your hair darker too?" It bothered me because he put my business out there. It should be my choice.

Wow that is terribly rude!! I have a friend who constantly makes jokes like "so why r u ordering that food when u can't eat it all anyway? Ur eyes really are bigger than ur stomach." It's so annoying!

NSV for me today is wearing cute jeans I haven't been able to wear in three years! And they're a little loose. But they're REAL denim with a zipper AND pockets! I'm so excited. I have been a yoga pant/jeggings only girl for a few years now.

Wahoo for big panties! Lol. I had to do that a few weeks after surgery. It's one of those things that hits all of a sudden. You're like "my underwear are swimming in my pants!"

Woooo hoop jen! I bought some size 18 capris 2 weeks ago, that are already getting loose. But same thing. Real jeans, pockets and all!

And I saw some friends that I haven't seen since before surgery on Friday, and they all couldn't believe how great I looked. Totally made my day/life. Hah. It's amazing how good it feels when people can see and comment on the progress.

Hey all. Not been on in a while. Have to be honest still lacking motivation. Had some work stuff change so I've been working late & Saturdays. Having a had getting started again. Not eating a lot (but who can?). I'm just not making very good choices. Don't know if I went through another stall. 10 weeks out. Haven't lost anything for almost 2 weeks & then got up & lost a pound since yesterday. Life is just busy and starting to put myself off again. Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

Jen-congrats! I know how that feels. I was in a 30/32 top and 26/28 pants. A month ago I finally broke down and bought a couple pairs of jeans, bras, tops and undies to get me through plus I had clothes I hadn't worn in years. It was exciting to fit in a 22/24 top and 22 pant. Now my tops look to big and I can put my new jeans in without unbuttoning or unzipping them. Not ready to shop again mainly because this road trip could get expensive!

Cwang- I was in a stall for two weeks didn't lose a pound but gained 2. I replaced a couple meals with shakes and boom. Lost 5 lbs + the 2 I gained. Choices are important and when life throws a curve we have to make accommodations around it to continue. Everyplace you go will change their menu if you ask. Order the burger without the bread and get lettuce instead. Always have fruits on hand for snack, buy high Protein Shakes to get through a hunger period and never eat fast.

I have a family who does not need to go through this journey with me but they are without realizing it. I cook for all so they eat what I make even if it's low calorie or fat free as long as it's tasty they don't know the difference.

Example- made chicken teriyaki skewers last night with corn on the cob and baked potatoes. I loaded the skewers with veggies to grill, zucchini, all colored peppers, onions, chicken and squash. I ate two bites of corn, a quarter potato and a quarter of my chicken skewer. I have at least 2 more meals for me out of it and my family (3 grown men -22 yr old 6ft son- 20 yr old 6'3 son-and hubby) loved the dinner.

I know this is a long post and I apologize I am feeling positive today and still very excited about my decision I hope everyone else is. Oh and as a suggestion I have gotten a lot of recipes from web site "Food Done Light". Great recipes for foods you eat just less calories and still have good taste to them.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
