Homosexual Liberal Atheists ~ What's UP with that?

Ok Green, now I'm completely spun up with jealousy. Not only is Green's significant other younger, he has been blessed by the hunky god, or god of hunkiness. As you can tell, BJean is not equal to Green's "smarty pants" intellect or she would not be stuck with a guy who is only 6 months her junior, who is beginning to suffer from some of the same ailments as BJean, i.e., roscea, arthritis, thinning hair, etc. But to be absolutely fair to the DH, all the other girls in the yard still like to chase him. One of BJean's recently single high school classmates was overheard to say at a reunion not so long ago, that BJean's husband should be cloned. :welldoneclap:

Are you kidding me? Me: really thick (before it started falling out 4 months post-op) curly red hair (a funky kind of goldish red that looks brown indoors and leprechaun's nightmare in the sun). Big buggy hazel eyes that tend toward the green side (I don't really know what people mean when they tell me I have "dough eyes". Or is it doe eyes?! But I'm a cliche internet redhead/green eyes, RSVP for my picture & profile hottie) While I could maintain a very nice tan when I was a CA native, I am now so white that I'm clear. Oh, and I'm between 5'10 and 5'11 with a large frame (are you kidding me? You can see my ribs when I stand and I've still got an extra 80ish lbs on me.)

DH: somewhere between 6'3 and 6'5. Very light blond hair - light to the point that if he cuts it short, he just looks bald. Wavy when it's too long, straight when it's not. Thin, but lots of it. Which he's well on his way to anyhoo. strawberry blond facial hair. Small (they're set deeply) steel blue eyes. And a forehead that doubles the overall size of his head. A perfect smile, and BIG lips.

Tell me again why we think it would be anything but cruel to have a child...

Oh, I should mention that I'm GREEK. Half, anyway. And a small part Cherokee, and Welsh. And probably specks of other things. When we go to a family event, there's a distinct "one of these things is not like the others" aura about me. Because the people in my family who aren't Greek are Mexican. Lots of olive skin, deep brown eyes and hair, tanning at the flip of a lightswitch...

I bet all these recessive Greek traits come out when I have a kid, and people will ask me things like, "Oh, are you babysitting?"

My parents were short slim elegant brunettes. I am comparatively tall, blue-eyed, prone to being a fatty, and reddish blonde with fish belly white skin! A total recessive, genetically speaking! blehhh! Then my brother was born and he took after them. I was so furious that I refused to speak until I was 3 years old with the result that they hauled me off to all sorts of specialists.

Sorry Wheet. You're not getting any sympathy from the likes of my 5'1" small-boned frame. You have lots of hair, curly even. Mine is straighter than if you flat-ironed it, fine as a wisp of wind, and started thinning after 4 months post-op. It isn't even growing well yet. I'm eating my protein! When I gained weight, no one noticed my small frame anymore. Until they saw my little bitty feet. They started commenting on them, asking how I don't fall over, and I began to tell them that when I was a baby my mother bound my feet, hoping they wouldn't notice that my wrists and hands are tiny too.

You sound healthy and attractive and so does your DH. My Dad's father was Welsh and his mother was Cherokee. Maybe you and I are related.

I don't disagree, but for the sake of argument, "the government" is still "we, the people of the United States". If "we the people" vote to outlaw pornography, not for religious reasons, but because the majority of us feels it victimizes and exploits women, contributes to crime, and has no redeeming social value, why should the minority (losers at the polls) get to call "foul"?
Of course the majority has to rule and in all "free" countries of the world, the majority does rule, BUT, the USA was and is supposed to be special, because besides majority rule, we also have "minority rights".

The "minority rights" part is accomplished in two ways. If it were just majority rule, then if 218 US Representatives (one more than 50%) and 51 Senators say yes to a "no more pornography" bill, and the president signs the bill, then no more pornography. Right? Not in this country, because our founding father did not want that, so they put into the bill of rights, certain guarantees to allow freedom for other than the majority. That "no more pornography" will be struck down as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court as a violation of “Free Speech”.

So what can be done to get "no more pornography" into our social justice system. Well, if they can get 300 US Representatives (2/3's) and 67 Senators to say yes to a "no more pornography" Constitutional Amendment and then 38 States have referendums agreeing, then there will be "no more pornography", but that is a lot easier said than done.

For laws that do not violate the Constitution, it still takes more than 218 US Representatives and 51 Senators to say yes , and for the president to sign the bill.

It takes 218 US Representatives to bring the bill up for a vote in "The House", but it takes 60 Senators to bring the bill up for a vote in the Senate. That Senate rule is there to stop a simple majority from running ruff-shad over the minority.

Many times the majority complains about that rule. Last year, the Republicans were threatening to remove the "60 Senators to bring the bill up for a vote" rule. If they had, then the once majority Republicans would not be able to stop the now majority Democrats from passing their anti-war agenda.

The idea of minority rights stops abuse by the majority and smooths the political waves as one side then the other is a majority. Could you imagine if every few years every law was reversed?

Not all issues of conscience or conviction have religious undertones. There are undoubtedly Atheists and Agnostics who abhor homosexuality and as voters, side with the Christian group on the issue of gay marriage. Christians do not have a monopoly on values, you know.
And there are Christians that vote against the particular type of Christians (Christian Right Political Movement Evangelicals), who try to push their beliefs into law.

Wheets, I concur with Bjean. I wanna be 5'11" and I am certain that you and your husband will produce an excellent sprog. If not, well, maybe you can trade him for one of a different style.:omg:

And as for your tiny feet, BJean, I am quite envious. This means that you can always find pretty shoes on sale. I never can.:cry

I just used pornography to illustrate the point, first because of the constitutional argument and then also the 60 votes to get out of conference rule in the Senate.

Besides with Tina gone all this time, what do you think is left for me to do?

TOM....

I am, believe it or not, aware of how the legislative branch works. Like you, I was just illustrating a point - that point being: IF (never mind how unlikely the scenario) the majority of Americans decided tomorrow that pornography was "bad", then outlawing porn would be a perfectly reasonable outcome. And not all of the anti-porn people would be Christians. My guess is that most Christians and MANY females do not like porn.

I was 99% sure that you did know how it works, but since we have non-US citizens on this forum and most US citizens, according to a recent survey, do not understand the system, I was just putting everyone on the same page.

As the first line of my explanation stated, "Of course the majority has to rule", so yes, if enough people put pressure on their congressmen and state legislatures to do what I said was needed to pass a constitutional amendment, then porn would be outlawed and I would abide by it, of c:rolleyes:urse. But, since porn grosses more money that legit movies, we know the chances of that.

We could even pass an amendment to outlaw Islam, but they might have to outlaw freedom of religion to do that. If some people got their way and enough politicians who believe in the literal Bible were elected, I guess we could pass enough amendments and laws to make the USA a theocracy. If we have an attack similar to what has been going on in "24", that might not be far behind.

My guess is that most Christians and MANY females do not like porn.
Porn grosses more money that legit movies, so who is watching all the porn? Could it be that most Christians and MANY females are liars?

I envy you folks who have some height on them. I'm about 5'3". I joke that it's the revenge of my mother's genes, along with being fat. My dad's side of the family are all fairly tall, my dad is 6"' and my brother is 6'1". My family are all very dark, for the most part, with very dark hair and eyes and tanning easily. Again, I'm an exception, at least to the tanning part. I manages to get the Scotch/Irish skin. When my cousin got married, my mom and I joked that it looked like a meeting of the Mob, because all the guys in my family were wearing dark suits, sunglasses, and had dark hair, eyes, and skin. To be honest, I'm not sure where the coloring comes from, because both sides of my family are supposed to be Scotch/Irish, and I don't know of any other ethnicities other than a Cherokkee several generations back on my mom's side. What I consider a consolation to my skin is that I'm the only person in my family to get my grandmother's eyes and hair. They're very, very dark brown. When I was a kid, the people in my classes would say that I had black eyes.

Religion is MANmade. Spirituality is totally different.

As far as porn, it can REALLY enhance a couple's sex life. My hubby travels and when he is on the road I encourage it. There are free sights out there and it doesn't cost us a dime. When in the mood.. I LOVE the stuff. I know plenty of other females that like it as well.. so different STROKES for different folks.. no pun intended.

I don't think it should be outlawed but I don't have a problem with paying higher taxes on stuff like porn, smokes and alcohol.

T

I can't speak for TOM, but what I thought he was referring to was the actual organized religion, not the faith or spirituality itself. I agree that faith and spirituality are founded with the best of intentions, in most cases, but I feel that the organized religion part of "religion" acts, like TOM said, as a method of "crowd control", for lack of better words.

Green I appreciate you pointing out to me that being small has its benefits too. I usually buy the smallest size they have of a particular shoe and it is usually the one that is on display. I don't even have to wait for a clerk to help me when I see a pair I like. :welldoneclap:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

    • LeighaTR

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
