October Sleevers...weight Coming Off Slower Than Expected?

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow sleevers: I recently had sleeve surgery on October 18th. I'm one month out today and have lost a mere 16.2 pounds since surgery. Granted, I also lost 16 pounds on the liquid pre-op diet for a total of 32.2 pounds. Am I being impatient or does that seem to be somewhat of a slower pace than most? I understand everyone is different, but honestly, I was expecting it to come off a little faster. Please chime in and let me know where you were at 4 weeks post-op.

I'm actually 5 weeks today and I've also lost only 16 pounds. I was a little disappointed but when I asked my doctor she said that I'm actually loosing above average. So she says. But I do agree with you that it does feel like I'm also loosing slower compared to a lot of other people on these boards.

I was also sleeved on October 18th and I have lost 22lbs since surgery along with 12lbs on my pre-op diet. I'm very happy with my weight loss so far. I'm not sure if I'm losing slow or not, but I do know that it might be because my BMI was on the lower side. My surgery weight was 235 & my weight now is 213. I'm doing great and feeling even better!

I am almost 6 weeks post op and have lost 19 lbs since surgery. I expected and hoped to lose slowly. My BMI was on the lower side, so I didn't expect to lose as fast as some. While I would love to wake up skinny tomorrow, I am still pleased with my weight loss. I had a stall for about a week and a half but now I am steadily losing again. I think the slow steady loss is the best, I am hoping losing slowly will help with keeping skin tighter.

I'm actually at 16 lb weight loss since surgery as well. (10/21)....I hit a plateau for 10 days and didn't lose a pound, then it started coming down again yesterday. I think we're on track.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
