Newbie!!! Scheduled for surgery April 2nd

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Julie. I am a newbie to LapBand Talk. I have done all of my preliminary doctor visits and I am now scheduled to have surgery on April 2, 07. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. I am supposed to lose 25 lbs before surgery and that is a challenge. The best part of this is that I have a wonderful support system. My family and most of my friends are in full support of my decision to have the LapBand done. When I first told my fiance about it he equated it with gastric bypass. However, since then he has taken the time to learn more about LapBand and is in full support. I have spent time reading posts here on LapBand Talk prior to registering. Thanks to everyone for answering many of the questions that I have had. I know this will be a good help for me in the future.

Hi Julie, and welcome. I'm glad you started posting. I lurked for quite awhile, too, and all the information helped me make my decision.

It's great you have so much support. Good luck in April and keep us posted. You may want to check and see if there's an April bandster thread started yet, and if not, why not start it?

Thanks Devana!! I really appreciate the support. I will look for an April Thread. Where would I post a new thread?

There IS an April 2007 thread---and some really great people over there. Some of them have joined us April 2006-ers, in an exercise challenge as well. I am sure they wold love to have you!!!

I believe their thread is titled something like "April 2007--Head Start on Spring".

Good Luck---congrats on your date---and welcome to LBT!!!

Kat

Hi CJulzgo...

I am scheduled to be banded on 4/6/07. This board has been very helpful to me and I'm sure you will be pleased to join. I mostly lurk to learn right now, but I am sure that I will get more 'vocal' as my day draws near.

I wish you much success!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
