"know It Alls"

Recommended Posts

Well, no. (Are you going to ask me to find youtube videos and studies to back it up????)

So then, I have a poll I would like to open up.

Is it better to be stung on the rod or the reel?

On the general or the colonals?

On the twig or the berries?

Tell me! I need to know!

It completely depends on who's doing the stinging.

.....and I say that humbly as an elite level stingee.

Well...one GOOD thing I have to say positive that I've gotten out of this entire silly argument...I am down 4 pounds since Sunday..... :P .......

Wait.....so 8 years a bandster and you're still not at goal? No wonder you're cranky.

I was at My goal weight within 18 months post op.......Remember I am going on 9 years.....you know the time MOST Bypass and other surgical types have gained it all back...LOL

I kept my weight down for 7 solid years with hardly NO gain....I am not cranky...just spunky... :P

I gained 30 pounds back last year when I developed a hiatal hernia...and had to saline reduced....there is no shame in my game....

I've lost 20 of that....I am VERY HAPPY where I am right now...so I will any additional weight loss I can get....

Don't brag too much...because what I hear the Sleeve can/and do stretch back out double its capacity in a few years....you are not that far out yet...so don't go bragging....

And oh..you can click on my profile and click on Gallery to check my pics to see if I got to my goal weight or not....

Remember once you get to goal, does not mean you will stay there with no small weight gain...

There you go again thinking you know something about the sleeve. You may be an elite level bandster but you know nothing about the sleeve. Quit acting like you do unless you're gonna post some more YouTube videos.

I think you have some kind of a chip on your shoulder and something to prove.. While some of your advice may be valid.. nobody likes it shoved down our throats.. I kind of remember your response to our posting about Obamacare.. You and several others called us racists . Nothing diverse or open minded about that response... I thought you were going to block all of who disagreed with your theory? I think you like the controversey... some people are natural s h --t stirrers.. I don't mind getting advice or information but when I say I am not doing that or this because my Dr. advises against it I don't want somebody who thinks they know better than my Surgeon to get pissy about it.. And I live in a very small town as well.. one post office and a blinking light.. I love the Country life and I would venture to say I am pretty darn smart.. I own my own business and have been successful in life . I have many years of experience in life and business and I am smart enough to know when someone is trying to degrade me... so please do us all a favor and block us.. I want to get back to normal posts from normal people.. people who are looking for positive reinforcement not brow beat..By the way being rude to other Weight Loss people such as sleeve folks is a great way to win friends... lol

Na NA, I had promised myself I wouldn't post, but girl you really have to get some feedback on your postings from someone that you respect - show it to your sister or a good friend. Someone who loves you enough to tell you the tough truth will be a great friend to you. You control your own destiny, and right now it's looking like one in which you set yourself up for a series of unpleasant retorts with bombastic posts, overuse of caps and very suspect anatomical discussions. You have a lot to offer but your delivery is waaaaay off.

Ps: I live in a very, very big city.... so I must know a thing or 2... ; )

Nana,

I noticed you are on your second band? When you are finished with that one there is a great sub forum we have on the sleeve site.

http://www.bariatricpal.com/forum/394-band-to-gastric-sleeve-revisions/

I think there might be some serious erosion issues going on..

Hello...

No thank you, I don't care to go the Sleeve route, if I develop another hernia in 7 years, my surgeon can just unbuckle this band and fix it. The older 4cc band that I had could not unbuckle...so I had to get my band replaced....

As long as my band keep my weight down, without horrible complications I will keep it or replace it....

Regarding the Sleeve what are YOUR plans when it stretches back out in the next 1-3 years? Do you have a PLAN B? B)

So.....you can redirect that Band revision link to someone else that's interested....Okay?

Just... wow. Nana I can not believe this thread was even started, let alone stooped to a personal level of insults right from the very first post.

I'm not even dignifying the "small town" crack with a remark. It's just too ignorant and stupid to even waste a key stroke on.

As for the whole "know it all" thing...

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
