I actually eat more hot sauce now then I did before surgery and have not had any problems with it at all.

Hi, I do fine with spicy foods. I live in Cajun country and I'm so glad. I use Cajun seasonings or hot sauce on most of my food instead of salt. I know some people have trouble with the hot stuff so I advise you to try a little bit and see how it goes. Then gradually increase the spice till you reach your desired level of heat or your tolerance. I was adding Tony Chachere's to my chicken broth when I was on Clear liquids. LOL, you will know soon enough if it will be okay with your new stomach!

No problems here with spicy food or hot sauce. My only issue is that my signal for being full is that my nose starts to run, and the same thing can happen if I use a lot of spice or hot sauce! So I have to pay very close attention to how full I am feeling, and eat only a small, pre-measured amount of very spicy food.

Unfortunately I am having issues with spicy food- I havent even dared to try hot sauce except as a minor ingredient. I wonder if it has anything to do with age though, seems some people have those issues more as they get older and I will be 55 in a week. It's very annoying and I usually just eat it anyway but my stomach does complain or I get bad heartburn. Not smart on my part I'm sure.

No problems for me. I live in New Mexico and we have green chile with everything, kind hard to avoid it. Everyone here is addicted to chile. Thank goodness Sleevette likes chile.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
