I know how disappointed you feel. When I met with my surgeon, I was so sure that I would be able to have the surgery in one but oh no, he dropped the bomb on me and said 2 surgeries. I was devastated. My husband comforted me and said that he is sure it's for the best. I am living proof that I am sure that it was God's will for me to have 2 surgeries. Sooo, 3 mths later I had RNY (also had surgery date rescheduled) and haven't looked back. You will happy and pleased with the results. Everything happens for a reason.

I understand your disappointment. It is so hard waking up and finding out that not only is your (malfunctioning) tool you gone, but now you're on your own again. I had a lot of bitterness and resentment over that fact. Unfortunately, I also had a lot of damage. My stomach needed time to heal and I ultimately know my surgeon did what was best. He said he would hate for me to have the disappointment of TWO failed surgeries. That certainly put it in perspective for me. I've been without my band for almost a year. I've gained 22 pounds. My revision to RNY is set for February 3. I'm so excited. You'll get your revision, too. It will be at just the right time.

I got my new surgery date! February 24th. I had my band removed November 4th and I had a problem with one of my incisions. I'm still packing it 2 months later. It's almost healed and I pray it doesn't happen with my bypass surgery. It's a pain in the butt to change the dressing and pack it 4 times a day.i can't wait for my surgery day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
