The dreaded question...

How much weight have you lost?.. I get asked that all the time. Stupid thing is I am only two weeks two days post op! Do people honestly believe I will lose all my excess weight in a couple weeks? I am not dropping rapidly, in fact I have held 270lbs for a couple days now. Whoopie. I am not worried or stressed by it. I know it was my decision to be open about having surgery. I have been lucky that the majority of those who know have been supportive or at the least curious. (only a couple jealous Negative Nancys) But come on peeps- it didn't go on overnight and it will NOT come off overnight. I lost around 30lbs on my own before I had surgery. ( From the first of August) My highest weight was 316lbs this past summer. So right now 270lbs feels much better. In fact, I haven't been this in over probably 8-10 years! I had the surgery. I am following the plan. I do need to exercise more, I will give that. But I do not expect magic and know it will happen when it happens. I am confident in what I am doing and what the results will eventually be... Yet daily being asked how much have I lost, this soon after surgery, well it is kind of aggravating. I know they can tell I lost weight since summer, but I haven't changed drastically since 10/21. I guess I will just chalk it up to a positive and try to let it go...At least they can see I am reworking this old body of mine!!!

I tell people that I don't weight myself! This is of course a big fat lie, but, I don't think it's anyone elses business and just because I've had the surgery doesn't necessarily mean I feel comfortable talking about my weight.

Just because you are open about your surgery, still doesn't mean you are obligated to answer every bonehead question.

When people ask me how much I've lost, I tell them "a bunch."

I get that question a lot, too, and I just figure it's their way of trying to be encouraging and supportive. I would definitely rather deal with people trying to be supportive & slightly missing the mark than with people being negative.

My biggest pet-peeve is everyone feels like they have to tell me I look great every time they see me - even if its 2 days later and my weight is the exact same. i'm glad I have supportive friends, but sometimes its like... give it a rest people. haha

Hahaha...back over the summer, my husband was painting our house. When I had lost somewhere around 40 lbs, I helped him paint the final side he had to do. My knees are really bad, so previously I would not have been able to stand long enough to really help him. But with 40 lbs gone, I could actually provide some real assistance & I was proud of that. Of course, since we were painting, I was wearing my nasty painting clothes & a bandana on my head. We posted some pix on FB to show us finally getting finished with the painting & me being able to help. Suddenly there were all these crazy comments about how great I look. WTH??? Seriously, people....I'm looking as rough as it gets...I'm covered in paint, sweat, and dirty, ginormously baggy, paint-encrusted clothes. NOBODY looks good like that! It was like suddenly everyone I know had gone blind or crazy...or both! :P

I have 3 rules about weight:

1. Never weigh

2. Never tell anyone what I weigh

3. Never date anyone who weighs less than I do

How much weight have you lost?..

Do you know what I find annoying? When your best friend asks and you answer and she says "that's all" I was shocked and a little hurt than found myself making excuses. "It's normal, I'm the average, I lost a lot at first now I avg 10# a month" why am I making excuses? I haven't lost 10# a month in over 5 years. 3 months ago if I cleaned my sons dance studio it nearly killed me, I could hardly talk, I was red and sweaty. Now I clean like its nothing. I can run up FLIGHTS of stairs and talk at the top. I went on an 8 mile bike ride today two days ago 5 miles the day before that 6 miles. So yeah since I had surgery Aug 27th I have "only" lost 32.5 # but I have gained so much more! And really from my pre op diet I am 42.5 and overall nearly 55#. Some people need to slow their roll. I think so many people are set on bypass losses that the sleeve losses seem so much less.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
