Concern re: final nut meetin and insurance submission

Recommended Posts

I had my fourth and final NUT visit today. My packet was supposed to be submitted to insurance immediately after, but as it turns out, my packet was submitted on Halloween. The nutrition class notes will go over after as an attachment after the fact.

My concern is this: my initial visit withy the surgeon and the beginning of my process was on August 5th. All of my classes and office appointments were clustered a bit closer than 30 days together, but one calendar month apart to satisfy my specific insurance requirements (so another visit early September, early October, and today -- initial surgeon meeting plus three nutrition classes). I'm concerned this early submission will equal an automatic denial since my packet came over before I had completed my minimum requirements. Any thoughts on this?

I'm thankful my packet is in, but I'm feeling a bit frustrated that an early submission could lead to a denial and delay. They stressed to me that everything be done under these specific time constraints, but here at the end and on the very last thing they seemed to disregard those same constraints entirely.

On a positive note, I've officially jumped through every hoop and am now waiting. Wahoo!! Even with this new little hiccup, it's awesome to be done with my requirements. Fingers crossed -- hoping for good news, and soon!

I don't have an answer other than wait and see what happens...plus my story...

my insurance switched their rules mid way through my pre-op journey.......so I didn't meet their requirements (did the NUT appointments in 3 months, but in much less than the 90 days).....but it went through on the first try....wishing you the best.

As a follow up, my early submission didn't hurt, but likely helped. The insurance coordinator called yesterday saying Cigna approved! They received my final NUT notes, so the completion of the package, at the end of the day 11/05/13, and I was approved and scheduling surgery before lunchtime on 11/07/13. Surgery date: 12/03/13. Hooray!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
