I have 2 pre-op appointments today, i with my surgeon, 1 with the bariatric nurse..My surgery is in 2 weeks..I don't think my dr does liquid diets...do you think I'll be getting pre-op blood work? every test I needed has been done already...the nurse phoned me the other day with 15 minutes worth of medical questions..so I am just wondering...

Every program is different, so I don't know. I had to have a bunch of blood work done on my Pre Op day, and a breathing test (even though I already had one done two weeks prior).

You probably will be getting pre-op blood work, or instructions on when to get it. I felt like my last pre-op appointment was all about me signing waivers that said, "I understand that I could die." They'll probably go over the pre-op and post-op instructions again. Honestly I went from approval to surgery within just over a week so I know I had a lot to get accomplished in about 5 business days. And as many have pointed out, every office is slightly different. Good luck!

My last pre op appointment with my surgeon consisted of him asking if I was ready and had any last minute questions and me asking what I still wanted to know. Then they gave me the time to be there for surgery...That was about it. But as stated before, every practice is different.

I went for my hospital pre op today. First I was on the phone with the RN FOREVER, just like you were only it seemed longer than 15 minutes. I was at the hospital for FOUR hours. I had to attend a Class (explaining everything that was going to happen, what they expected of me, etc.) that lasted for an hour and then had blood drawn, peed in a cup, chest x-ray, blood pressure checked and my weight taken. Good luck!!! Aren't you 'over the moon' excited? I can't wait until Monday!!!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
