10 days Post-Op & Feeling Down

Recommended Posts

Drop that "friend" and move on !!!!

I discussed at length this choice with a couple of my real friends and every one of them was supportive of my decision. They were there before and have stepped up to assist in any way they can after as well. When we go out to a restaurant, they don't make me feel out of place because I can't eat a whole meal and we actually choose places that serve family style to we can all share and take what we want for portions ...

A true friend should support this choice of yours to use a tool to achieve a healthier lifestyle. Period!

So the amount your stomach can handle changes day to day aftervsurgery?

I'm 8 days post op and it is yes. This morning I had a shake and felt like I was going to barf shortly after finishing it. Yesterday it went down great tho.

Today is day 10 Post-Op and I am feeling a bit down. I have NEVER been an emotional guy so this is strange and it is even stranger that I am throwing it out here.

I can drink without issue and for that I am thankful. I am also thankful that my Dr. said I could move to stage 3 after 1 week.

However' date=' These things are getting to my head and make me HATE eating.

1) I don't like that I can not eat my full meal (3oz. of food)

2) I don't like how I feel after I eat. I don't feel the you need to stop eating felling until it is too late and then I feel there is a golf ball in my throat

a) This takes me to item #1

I also have an issue with what I thought was my best friend & boss that basically dropped me and my family after WLS because we have "core differences" (he thinks I should have lost weight without WLS). I am basically dropped until I can eat a full size steak. If that is true, I am dropped forever because I don't need that in my life, but it is still real.

I think I feel down because I hate to eat and I don't know how long this will be. I just want to be able to eat 4oz of meat and a few bites of veggies without being sick. have got the slimes twice and one time I thought I was under eating. Who knows.[/quote']

It will get better. As for jealous x associates dont let them discourage you. food i feel if you cant finish it u can always eat it later. Cheer up.

I think my friends are kinda jealous... Its hard to watch someone loose Wt when they still struggle everyday...if anyone of them try to throw my train off the tracks, they will get runover, lol. Its just food, like air, Water, required for life, eat to live, not live to eat, or even worse, eat to have friends....your friend is loosing control of you and they don't like it.manipulation is an awful thing....

This is a great discussion! I also had the blues all during my 3rd week, and could not really understand it! I'm in week four now and feeling a lot better emotionally and have a positive attitude. I keep trying to remind myself that this is a process and a journey, and that I need to relish it because I worked very hard to be granted this solution to my health issues. I'm still healing and learning new things everyday. I appreciate everyone's comments, because it lets me know that I am just as normal as everyone else going thru this process, and alleviates my inner worries! In time, I will get back to a more normal social life, but I will just eat a lot less, and that is OK! :D

Yesterday evening I started eating a cheese/meat roll and got tired of it 1/2 way though it. I kept nibbling on it till it had one bite left and fed it to the dog. That process took about 1hr.

I did not like eating for an hour so decided I would try this: Whatever I do not eat in a normal amount of time I will not eat.

Today I went to out to lunch and got a grilled piece of chicken and some mashed potatoes. It was a large breast so I could only eat about 1/3 of it and a couple bites of taters. When my friend was done eating I asked for a box. I did not get as much Protein as I would have if I kept eating, but this process is emotional enough and I don't want to feel weird that I am trying to clean my plate, even if it takes an hour.

Tonight we made a turkey breast. I hate 2oz of meat and 3 very small bites of mashed potato's.

I am now 18day out. Is that normal?

Yes I believe it is, esp if it follows your doctors orders. You might have good luck with meats that are a bit more moist like a little sauce with the meat, or ground beef etc.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
