Which doctors in Mexico use what we, in the US, would consider a hospital? I know that everything is vastly different, but I guess I am interested in facilities that would be an ideal place if something went wrong -ie icu, blood bank, other surgeons, an er?

Hospital Angeles is a full fledged hospital.

I'm being sleeved at Mi Doctor Hospital in a few days.

It is a specialty hospital for bariatrics only.

Then there are the strip mall type clinics.

The only one place that I've heard bad things about is NOVA. It is said to be not suited for Medical Tourism or up to our standards. If someone out there has used them and has a different perspective, pls feel free to comment. That's based on what I've read.

We are at Dr aceves hospital right now. We have had nothing but a great experience since we arrived here. I will be coming back and I will be telling my family and friends all about this place.

I was just sleeved at Nova and it was fine. No problems. My friend and I speak Spanish so it was easier for us to communicate though.

I was sleeved at Nova in July. At first the appearance may throw you off. But it is an excellent hospital. I am a surgeon , and I was very impressed by the care I received there. The rooms are ncdcsized and the hospital is ginean. You are attended to by a full team, including a physician 24 hrs. The nursing staff if very attentive. I would recommend Nova highly.

I just had my VSG 3 days ago at Mi Doctor Hospital.

My coordinator just called me to see how everything went. When I commented that I was surprised that the hospital was actually a clinic. She said, no, according to Mexican standards, it is a hospital. (It has a blood bank/ can preform transfusions) so it's a hospital.

My point is... Our interpretation of HOSPITAL and theirs are different.

There was nothing about Mi Doctor Hospital that made me think of it as a clinic. It had admitting, regular rooms, a nurses station, labs, Operating rooms, recovery areas, and a room reserved as an ICU. I was fully comfortable with all aspects of my recent VSG there. I've seen much worse in the States.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
