When will my energy be back?

Recommended Posts

I am ten days post op. I can't seem to do more than 2 1/2 hours of straight activity without going down for a long nap. This then throws off my bedtime. When will I have more energy?

Maybe take a B12 supplement to help you out?

It took me about three weeks before I was completely nap-free (everyone is different though). Major surgery makes your body need a lot more sleep in order to recover and heal, so take all the naps you need. :)

Me too, it was about 3 weeks before my energy levels came back. It took a few months to get back to my total energy level I had pre-op.

That's good to hear. I'm 15 days out and was starting to get frustrated with my lack of energy. I keep thinking once I get on "mushy" foods next week and can get some calories that it will get better.

Listen to your body..It is telling you that you are not ready yet for a full tilt exercise program....Your body is different then mine.....Sleep if you need to it helps heal the body....As you go along your energy will increase along with your activity...

Start now to listen and work with your body instead of your mind and go step by step...K

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
