One step closer

Recommended Posts

I had my one visit requirement with the dietician yesterday, she explained the rules of surgery and asked general questions about my health and diet. She advised me based on my insurance type, the time in between seeing her and having the surgery is typically 6 weeks, that made me really feel closer to my destination. She told me that the surgeon that's performing my surgery schedule fills up really fast and for me to call ASAP if I'm trying to have my surgery this year, I thanked her we ended the visit and as soon as I got to my car I called and schedule my first visit with the surgeon for oct 22 just a few days away. Once I have my second visit with the surgeon I will be given an actual date, in between time I will need to see a physc once and get some labs done. I can't believe this is all happening so fast, and I pray to have the same success that many of you have experienced. I am so ready to move on to what my life is meant to be. I know that my 38 years of life has been full of struggles and down times, I've had the ability to smile and just play it off and make the world think that my life is wonderful and complete, but deep inside I felt pretty but very limited and worth less because my size is more. I look at these years as a hard learning experience that will compliment and strengthen the new exciting world I'm working towards.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
