Lapband out and having burning

Recommended Posts

I had started having burning in my stomach in August. I had the lapband out and was getting it revised to a sleeve but I had a lot of scaring so they said come back in 4-6 months for the sleeve. Since I have had the band out I am still having burning from my throat to my stomach. I had a upper GI series and it showed nothing. Not even reflux. I had a EDG in August and they said it was normal then. I am due to have another one on Friday. I have been put on 7 PPI,s and none have worked. I am on an antibiotic and that's not doing it either. Has anyone had this and if so what did you do? Help I am desperate for this burning to stop. I feel like I am on fire all the time.

Did they test for H Pylori? I know that can cause burning.

Yes, they tested me for that. I was just reading on the internet that a lot of people are experienced much worse things than I am. And this is hell. Has anyone had this and been helped

Fins all the pain has stopped. My doctor gave me Nystatin and it took care of the burning. I also drank a lot of kifir. Took Probiotics. I never had reflux, that why none of the 7 acid blockers they gave me never worked. None of the 10 doctors I saw could figure it out until I went back to my PCP. My tongue was white and he figured it out. I did show the other doctors my tongue and they said it was nothing

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
