In weighing the risks and benefits of the surgery, I came to the realization that this was God's will for my life. Hence I knew that I would have a better chance of surviving the surgery than surviving without it.:)

Hi Desi,

My prayers are with you and I know you know we serve an awesome God who loves us more than we can understand, and I know for me I need to totally trust and rely on Him. He will be right there with you every step of the way. We pray for wisdom and complete understanding for those involved in your surgery and recovery. It is scary going into surgery for the 1st time I know that. I am not banded yet but hope to be by the end of March. This will be my 3rd surgery. My last surgery I had a Christian Dr. and I asked her to pray with me before surgery and she laid hands on me as did the physician assistant student. It was so comforting and I was not afraid at all. I wish every Christian would be able to have this experience before surgery as it was a terrific blessing to me knowing I had a surgeon who worships the same God I do!! Let me know how you do and I will continue to pray. Blessings and Hugs, Deb

You will be in my thoughts and prayers - as hard as it is - try to relax and know that many/most of us have been through exactly what you are going through emotionally and had the surgery. I was most surprised it wasn't as bad as I expected and believe me I was petrified - almost cancelled a few days before and the day of! You will be a little sore/uncomfortable and may wonder what the heck you have done -but I promise it won't be 'as bad' as you are probably imagining it.

I will be in prayer for you throughout this recovery time. I will be waiting in great expecation of what God will do for you, and through you. Please stand in firm assurance, that we serve a great and mighty God. Trust and know that if He brought you to it, He'll bring you through it.

May God be with you now and forever more, may He grant you peace and joy all the days of your life...

Desi,

I am 48 years old and have never been in the hospital, ever! Don't have kids, still have my tonsils, everything intact. So I was very nervous, like you, about my first surgery. I came through with flying colors. The hospital staff was incredible and I felt absolutely comfortable from the moment I walked in there until the time I walked out of there.

I realize everyones experience is different but mine could not have been better. Best of luck to you. Keep us posted on your progress.

Here's a "virtual touch" and agreement with you that you will come through this surgery without complication and minimal discomfort. We further agree that this procedure will help you accomplish your weight loss goals and improve your health so that you may flourish and enjoy all that you have missed in your life before now due to your weight.

My experience on 2/27/07 was not at all bad. I did not have any nausea, no tubes in nose and I was walking an hour after surgery. Post op pain is there but not bad. A few days after surery, I got the left shoulder/neck gas pains which were the worst of the entire procedure. But I still went back to work 4 days post op

Hi Everyone,

I've absolutely fallen in love with a lot of you and have kept you in my prayers as you go along your journies.

My surgery is March 12th and I've never been in the hospital for anything since the day I was born and that was 36 years ago :)

Please say a special prayer for my safety and recovery. The Word of God says when two or more agree as touching anything, He is in our midst. I truly need and ask for your prayers.

Love You all to pieces!!!!!

Desi

Desi,

My prayers tonight will include you. Best wishes.

Sheri Lynn

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
