Hi everyone,

I am schedualed for my sleeve on the 24th and was wondering generally how long you guys took off before being able to drive again.

I waited 48 hours after the last time I took pain meds. I was fine though no issues after that.

How long were you on your pain meds if you dont mind me asking. I know everyone has different tolerances to pain. Mine is pretty high.

Check with your doc, they all seem to vary.

Mine was 2 weeks because he said my surgery could withstand being hit by airbag after that.

I waited 2 weeks because I had pain in my large incision area and when I was scrunched up in a car it was a bit too painful. Plus, I found that even as a passenger, the bumps and the natural leaning we do when turning would give me aches and pains. So, I waited to drive until week 3. I found that reaching out to close the driver door was still a little painful, and turning my head and torso when backing up still hurt a bit. I'm starting week 5 post-op tomorrow and all that is gone now. I hope this helps! (btw, I only took the strong pain meds for 4 days post op, then I stayed with over the counter for the rest of week 1. After that, no pain meds).

I was brought home from the hospital but thought it was not much different than driving myself in the hazards are exactly the same etc .. I however was told it may come down to your insurance to drive not covering you for a certain period after an op ..

I came home Thursday morning and was out driving and shopping in my own on Friday. I didn't use pain meds except at bedtime the first couple of nights.

I was in the hospital 4 days due to nausea complications, was off pain meds the 2nd day in the hospital. Drove myself home with no problems (I did have a small pillow between me and the seat belt).

Day 3 for me. My sister was here, so I let her drive everywhere. I really had no pain, just a little discomfort so I never took the pain meds. But I kept my trips short (drug store, grocery) as I just couldn't handle the stress of Chicago traffic.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
