Hi my name is Michelle. I'm 35 years old. I've struggled with my with my weight for over 10 years now. I got the gastric sleeve done on August 26, 2013. To date i have lost approximately 22lbs (Day of Surgery 238, Today 216) I've joined this site because i want to get the most out of my surgery. I'm not sure how much weight on average a person should be losing weekly/monthly etc. I've read a lot of stories where people are losing a lot of weight right away. Mine seems to be going slower. I'm at the stage right now where i'm eating soft food. Tryin very heard to drink Protein shakes but I have not found one i like yet, would love some suggestions. I started doing cardio this week so i'm hoping this helps with the weight loss.

Thanks for listening.

I was sleeved on 9/9 and I'm only down 26 pounds. I also find Protein Shakes to be gross and the only ones I liked are from Bolthouse Farms. They are by the cold juices in the produce section of my grocery store. They're decent tasting and they're the only ones that don't make me gag. I only drink maybe 1/3 of the bottle at a time but some seems better than none at all.

I think it's important not to get caught up in comparing yourself to other people. We all have different bodies, different metabolisms, different challenges. Control the part you can control, by following your medical team's guidance with respect to diet and exercise, and let go of the stuff you can't control. I don't mean this to sound flip or uncaring but I really do believe that comparisons are counter productive. I won't even open a thread that sounds like it is inviting comparisons and measuring yourself against anyone else's progress. Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
