What should I ask my doctor?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I am not yet banded but I have been researching the band and reading this board for quite sometime and was wondering if I could get some help. After what seems like forever I am finally going for my first consulation with the doctor on 3/7/07 (:dance:YEAH!!). I am trying to come up with a list of questions to ask him (i.e. pre/post op diet he recommends, fill costs, type of band used...etc). The problem is, I have read so much information, I think I have become super-saturated and just can't think straight anymore and I am not sure what to ask. What questions did you ask your doctor, or wish you would have asked your doctor, about the band and the whole banding process? I tried to use the search feature to see if a thread was already open on this subject but I couldn't seem to get it to work.

Thanks in advance!! :)

:) uhmmm....okay, so I found a thread on this subject in the Labband FAQs section right after I posted this...don't I feel like a dummy. :D Sorry...if you can think of anything that might be missing from the FAQs thread, please let me know. Thanks again!

Well it seems you have asked enough questions to make a decision on WHICH Dr. to use...so let's see.....I'd ask him

How long of a hospital stay he requires

What his aftercare program consists of....

any support groups available?

A nutritionist?

How he decides if a fill is in order

how often will he do a fill

does he only do them on certain days

How he does those fills...blind or with fluoro...what the cost of each is...

What he considers an average weight loss per week

If someone is available 24/7 for emergency purposes

As the time comes closer I would ask for your prescriptions early, so you can have them filled and waiting at home for you.

I know I am not thinking real clear---I should go to bed!!! As I think of others...I'll pop in!

You've got the ball rolling---I love my band---and am sure you will too!

Kat

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
