Best Results From the Band - Says it all

Recommended Posts

I copied this directly from the power point presentation that my doctor has posted on his website.

Best Outcomes are seen when:

"When surgery is not the starting point but an event in the patients attempt to lose weight.

"When you leave all the excuses and get the job done. i.e. change eating habits and exercise.

"You are proactively involved in your care i.e. when you do not say ³nobody told me that!² Empower yourself with the knowledge needed.

"When you are frustrated, desperate and angry with your weight. You can then channel your energies to achieve goals.

I appreciate the 'nobody told me that' whine! So many people I have heard in waiting rooms, meetings, and especially on line, don't know diddly what they are getting into! They get a lapband about as seriously as they get married these days (sounding like an old fogey there, huh)....and it's about as successful for them (big percentage of failure). And, like marriage, the 'event' is just the beginning....there is hard work the rest of our lives.

If you are considering weight loss surgery of any kind.........please study and research and read boards and websites and educate yourself. Knowledge is power!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
