Ok I just want to rant and whine and complain mostly because I know folks here will most likely give me the virtual slap upside the head I need and tell me to calm down.. actually just writing this post helps put some perspective back.. my problem I’m VERY impatient and need to learn to accept my progress as it is and not stress too much that I’ve not lost enough..But now at 6cc in a 14 cc band I still do not seem to have any restriction. And going forward they told me the biggest adjustments will be .1 cc at a time. I feel at that rate it will take YEARS before I ever get anywhere close to a green zone.

How aggressive can I be with fills? I don’t want to wait a year before I find the Green Zone or even feel restriction :(

I know it's frustrating but you're going to have to be patient. It takes time and you're much better off easing into the Green Zone than blowing past it into too tight then trying to back into it.

As far as fills, you can only be as aggressive with them as your doctor allows. Some people may get crazy aggressive fills and do fine whereas others (like me) get very conservative fills. Your doctor knows what's best for your body so if he says small fills, trust him. You trusted him to do your surgery so trust that he also knows what's best for you after.

Take a long hard look at what you are eating. Our rule of thumb is solid Protein first then vegetables then healthy carbs. Do you find you have different restriction based on what you eat?

It took me a while it seemed like almost a yr. and my doc would do 1 1/2 cc's I a at 11 cc's in my 14 cc band and still losing but the last time I went we we're discussing a adjustment but this time I chose not to have a fill as I am still losing inches and pounds so just be patient as you are getting used to the band and use the tips that the doc gives you or stick to the post op diet and before you know it you will say llok at me(your self) and say I have came a long way and this is helping and is working for me (you) .

You're going through the toughest period of all....that adjustment period..AKA "Bandster Hell"...

I was mad as hell, frustrated, felt the whole thing was a waste of time and money...a big sham...I even gained weight after my first fill...I guess I wanted instant results, which for me was not going to happen....

It took me a few fills and a few months after surgery to get the band properly adjusted and "Tweaked" before it started running like a well oiled machine....so yes, it was hard, VERY HARD at first...both with getting the band adjusted and getting my head screwed on right and adjusted to understand and accept what the band is trying to do and get out of it's way...stop being the boss and let the band take charge.......since then, it has been a dream...well worth the tribulation....cause now it's as easy as can be....2nd nature...

Guess you got to go through hell to get to heaven....

I started to thing that restriction is in your head, if I wanted to eat a full meal I am more capable to do it, but I know that I will be breaking the rules and putting my health in danger, so I stick to my 4 oz meals and my liquids, I love Propel... Today I ate salad w/chicken love it, I moist the chicken with avocado. Restrict yourself to what is better for you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
