November 2012 unite

Recommended Posts

Hey buds its been almost a year... Sadly to say I have failed majorly in this decision. 40lbs down and 6lbs gained back I am ashamed to say in total it only 34 in a YEAR. It appears the band was placed in the wrong spot and with a minor fill I want able to even drink Water year around it was get a fill starve and dehydrate for two days then get an unfill and feel the starvation and have almost a bowl of chipotle fill in my so called pouch within one hour lunch. It been said the only way to get it better is to do reversal job. Lately I have been haunted by tough of just getting a sleeve any thoughts or similar stories to share??

I don't regret any decision in my life because at the end I will make it work

Hi, I was banded in November 2012 too. I am sorry you feel like the band has not worked as well as you would have liked. Did they say it was placed in the wrong spot will they fix it for you? I am happy it has taken me 11 months to get to the green zone but I feel like my serving size and hunger levels are about right now - until then I just had to diet. I have 8.5ml in my 10ml band I have taken the last few fills very slowly 0.2 and 0.1 fills to inch close to the green. I have lost 65 pounds since the band and 30pounds pre-band . My weight loss has been slow some months I lost nothing but I averaged out at 5 pounds per month and I am happy with that. I workout 5 days a week and am wearing a US size 8. I still have 24 pounds to my goal weight but I am happy to finish that off slowly in with healthy eating and working out. I completely cut out sweet stuff this year and only have eaten cake on my birthday! Its taking my mind awhile to catch up with the weight loss I still feel huge and all I can see if my big belly and thighs but I know that going from 275 to 180 is a big change....its going to take me some time to catch up...

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
