Ok - so I make comments but I usually don't start my own thread - lol. As you all my know, I had my surgery in 9/13. I've been doing pretty good, been eating right and trying to do all the right things. Today I'm going about my business, cleaning up and supper and all that. Well I was taking clothes out of the washer and I leaned over my port. I wasn't being forceful, just leaned over the exact spot of the port. I felt an intense pain on my side -a burning pain. I honestly thought my port was right under the big incision. Well it's not. It's on my right side between the two incisions. I felt it then. I have not had any port pain until today.

I don't get my first fill until this Tuesday, so I honestly didn't know where it was. I'm ok now. I think I just pulled it a little - it doesn't hurt like that anymore. I know I am not supposed to be lifting and stuff like that and I've been pretty good about it. I just forgot.

I know that if it keeps bothering me or if I have any more pain, I will call the doctor. It has subsided and I am ok now. Has this ever happened to anyone. Im going to be 45 this month - so I'm not as young as some of you all either - lol.

Call the doctor and just talk about it. I have leaned on mine and it is uncomfortable.

I had a fill today and my port is hurting a little. Maybe it is common.

My rule is when in doubt call the doctor.

Feel better.

Yep! Yep! I'm 10 months out almost and the washer still gets my port. I'm short so sometimes I have to really lean into the washer to reach the bottom. I've found that its really more my "skin" that hurts more than the muscle. That sharp pain of a pinch.

Seems like you've thought thru what happened and have the appropriate amount of concern. Like you said if it changes you'll call your doctor.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
