Is there a rule of thumb as to ... how do you know when the fill is too tight?

Recommended Posts

HEllo! I am on fill number 3 (1/2 way of a 14cc band) and it is the FIRST time I have felt ANY restriction at all. However ... I went from ZERO to 90 I think...as ANYTHING I swallow feels very uncomfortable for atleast 5-10 minutes. If I eat on top of the first bite I end up with all of it returning! YUCK!

Thnx for any insights others haev experienced...

You need to take much smaller bites and chew better, and wait between bites. I'm on the tight side of the green zone and I have to wait at least a full minute between bites.

One classic symptom of being too tight, for me, anyway, is acid reflux.

This is strictly my experience, but if I told my surgeon that he'd insist I get a tiny unfill. In fact 3 days after my last fill I was back in getting .2cc removed for that very reason. I could drink fine but couldn't eat jack without discomfort. When I called his office to ask, their response was "how soon can you get here?"

If I can't eat healthy foods in reasonable portions without pain or discomfort, then my doc says I'm too tight. (and I agree)

Best wishes.

Yep eating responsible portions without pain is the key I think.. I've had 2 fills both small.. my Dr. is very conservative and he said the same thing as you Missy... Nobody wants to go through life with so much fill that you can't enjoy eating at all...

I think this last fill I got is too much. I'm at the point now where I don't enjoy eating, I dread it because it's going to get stuck no matter how long I chew and how long I wait in between bites. I was getting all upset saying what did I do to myself and I can't keep going like this, I was regretting the band all together. I'm going to have him take some Fluid out, I'm just too tight.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
