Not Losing Weight!

Recommended Posts

What other experienced plicaters have said in this post is very true. PATIENCE. Forget the rapid weight loss, it's not gonna happen. Once you make peace with that, you can move on. (: Afterall, remember we did not opt to have gastric bypass. This is gonna be slow going. I had my surgery in February and I'm down about 40 lbs. I sometimes complain to myself it's the slowest weight loss ever and then I remember that before the surgery I never lost any weight at all. I'm down about 2 dress sizes and wearing clothes in the back of the closet I never thought I'd wear again. Just got back from a trip to Europe where I walked, yes walked up the stairs to the Eiffel tower. (One of the elevators was broken so our option was to wait in a 3 hour line for the elevator or take the stairs which was no wait) My friend and workout partner reminded me this is what we've been training for all these months of working out together and we were able to do it. Cant say that I could have accomplished that being 40 lbs heavier. So the minute I start whining about my slow weight loss, I put it in perspective. Be happy with just a couple lbs a month because losing is losing and we will all end up smaller than we were before the surgery!

Okay so hey there! I'm new to this forum and I had my plication done in March, 5 months ago. I have only lost 30 pounds so far. I reached my current weight, 270, 5 weeks out and have not list a pound since. I keep with a great diet, under 1200 calories per day, and mostly Protein. I really thought I would have lost more, with going to the gym 5 days a week and doing the Zumba and spin classes 2x a week. This surgery has been nothing but a disappointment from the start. I have seen many people in the same predicament as I am in, and it annoys me how the say "oh it's all my fault that I'm not losing, even tho I go to the gym and eat right". Like NO, it is not your fault, obviously this surgery does not work for many many many people who are doing everything right. Before I had surgery I could eat about 3 regular size pieces of pizza and be full, after the surgery I can eat two and be just regular full, and then 20-30 minutes later I'm going in for the third slice. I have only gone down one jean size, I was a 24 at start, I am a 20-22 now, depending on the brand. I feel virtually no restriction, even tho I eat right and work out. I can eat only slightly less then what I used to eat. Honestly, I'm sick of people saying it is their fault, when it isn't. My friends and my mother always say "well you just have a quitters mentality", but I don't I have done everything that my surgeon said to do, and more, and I am ready to be done. I honest to God gave 150%, with no luck. Once I can save some money I will be revising to gastric bypass. This surgery was the wrong choice for me, and many others on here, from what I read. I am very disappointed, I did everything right, and this is what I get :(

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
