Hi, Well I had my plication for 7 months. They removed it 7 weeks ago, But till this day I'm still loosing my hair I have huge bold spots that I can't hide no more only if I wear a hat, I started loosing it about 4 months after I had the plication done The Dr.told me it would stop. But it did not, and now that I don't have plication any more it still comes out like crazy. I’m taking Biotin, B12 Vitamins, and using Biotin Shampoo and conditioner but nothing seems to help. My Dr. told me to go to a Dermatologist so I can get Hormones shots on my scalp for Hair growth.< /p>

I think it was because of so much stress with plication complications .I will wait a little more on the Dermatologist maybe. Don’t know what to do

Lena,

Sorry I replied to this earlier, but it didn't post.

So sorry this is happening. Have you tried minoxidil, I think it's supposed to

stop or slow Hair loss and promote Hair growth.< /p>

Good luck to you.

You're experiencing Telogen Effluvium. Wikipedia says the following on it:

"Emotional or physiological stressful events may result in an alteration of the normal hair cycle. It may be due to a variety of causes, eating disorders, fever, childbirth, chronic illness, major surgery, anemia, severe emotional disorders, crash diets, hypothyroidism, and drugs."

These links may be of interest, the first is from MassageGoddessAmelia, a lovely youtube RNYer (watch it and you'll see what I mean):

I have heard that it is typical to start losing hair between 3 to 9 months post op. I have read that nothing will really stop the loss, but that the Biotin helps with regrowth. The theory is that it is not only from the stress of the surgery, but also the anesthesia, in addition to the change in nutrition. My hair also started coming out a lot more at about 4 months. No bald spots, though, just a lot of hair in the brush, on my pillow and in the shower. And I know I'm getting enough nutrition so I know it is not that. Do not worry. It WILL grow back and stop falling out, but it might take a few more months. I have read that hair starts falling out about 3 months after any stressful time in someone's life. It will get better. Hang in there.

At the end of August I was starting to notice an appreciable amount of Hair loss. Right about that time I started having gallbladder issues and had to change my diet to almost no fat. In order to do that, I started drinking Protein Shakes again for lunch (then eating VERY carefully amongst a select few low fat items for dinner and snacks). I think the increased Protein slowed my hair loss. It is much less noticeable than it was two months ago. If I notice it falling out again I am going to try increasing my protein (I was taking in around the 60-80 grams my doc recommended after the initial surgery, but I had gotten kind of lazy with that during the summer and was only taking in about 40-50 grams) and see if it helps!

Like many here, I too experienced hair loss at the 2nd month mark...and I read here that it usually lasts till around 5 months. Spot on! My hair is not coming out anymore...I always peer carefully at my comb...and is growing back and I don't feel like Donald Trump anymore.(Thank God for small favors)!! Lena... please tell why 7 months after sleeve plication you had to have it reversed? I was at 7 months end of April and feel out of the woods...but maybe not!

love, sunshine and healthy vibes to all.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
