Fed up with surgeons office!

Recommended Posts

I went to the surgeon on 9/3 to have a visit with him and meet the insurance lady. She told me what my insurance requires and how to schedule everything. I got all of my clearances done in 2 weeks. Everything on my end is done. She told me a week ago she was sending it to insurance. My insurance does not have it. I have repeatedly called the lady for the last 3 work days. No response. My surgeon is very highly recommended. I don't want to switch. I feel very comfortable with him and my insurance says if I do decide to switch I have to redo everything. I don't know what to do. I need to get this scheduled before it gets into the holiday season so my hubby can take off to be with me and take care of our son.

Like you, I had a great surgeon but the office was largely staffed with incompetent idiots, many of whom did not return phone calls. I took my problem to the surgeon's office manager. Had she not returned my phone call and fixed the problem immediately, I would have camped out in her office until she saw me and together we walked my file through her bleepin' office to get things done right. I also faxed a letter to my surgeon summarizing the difficulties I was experiencing with his staff. There was one really serious staff error that caused the insurance co. to deny my surgery. I took that matter to the Chief Operating Officer of the hospital that runs the Obesity Center.

I would make an appt with the insurance processors at the surgeon's office and demand that they show you the file that was submitted to the insurance company and give you a copy of it. While you are there, have them make a conference call with the insurance co and right then and there have it sorted out as to exactly whom to send a copy to in order to resubmit. If they are going to fax it, sit there and wait until you see them do it. Call the insurance company staffer an hour later to make sure it was received. Repeat as necessary.

Sometimes you have to take matters in your own hands and be your own advocate.

I've called her and the insurance company 3 + times a day for the past week. She won't even call me back to schedule an appt. I even paid a 300 dollar program fee for them to handle the insurance stuff. If she does not call me back tomorrow my husband is going to call.

kkelly, take matters in your own hands!!! Go to the office like previously stated by TurnThePage. Walk your paper thru the process and don't take no for the answer. Please take a stand. That is a complete waste to pay for insurance office to file crap! You can do this!!! Just go in first thing when they open! be the first one in the office!!! Let them know how distasteful it is to not return phone calls. Be sure and tell them you will give a negative review. Let us know how things turn out.

My husband called the office and she answered. She immediately said "I haven't heard anything" she obviously had not even listened to my voicemails about her having the wrong fax number. she acted like she had done nothing wrong by avoiding my calls. She did tell my husband she would immediately fax it to the correct number. Hopefully she does this time.

I finally got ahold of someone at my insurance who was helpful. She called the office and demanded the paper work. They sent it to her immediately. The lady is cutting out all of the middle men and sending I to be reviewed herself and I should have an answer tomorrow or Thursday!

Well what did you find out? I would have called first thing. Yep, they would get tired of me either calling or showing up in their office. A girls gotta do, what a girls gotta do! can't wait.

They haven't reviewed it :-(. I heard someone in the background say "she's calling again" lmao. All we are waiting on is insurance approval. They are going to get a break from me today though Cus I woke up with a floor fill of Water and a completely defrosted fridge and freezer. Needless to say I have to spend my day taking care of that and won't have time to bug them all day :-(

Hope you got to cook lots of good yummy things with your "Defrost"! On the other hand, I could be a really bad itch to the one that comments in the office and its not professional!!!! I feel that they have a job, just do it and don't moan about it! Keep us updated!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
