My husband has proposed the idea of going on a beach vactaion (i.e carribean) after I recuperate from surgery. For those of you who are post-op, how long after surgery do you think I would be able to go and enjoy a vacation. My surgery is March 5th..I was thinking perhaps end of April..what do you all think?

The only thing about going so quickly would be not being able to go in the Water. You will be limited to swimmin or bath tubs for 6-8 wks until you heal up. Maybe ask your doctor how long he wants you to say out of the Water.< /p>

The vacation sounds wonderful though!

good point I am pretty sure it is 6 weeks before swimming so the end of april would work for that. How about the eating in public part? When does it feel ok?

I don't know about after, but that is why I am waiting until April 16 to have mine done. I am going to Myrtle Beach for Easter week. My doctor said he would not do it before that because of the travel time, possiblity of blood clots and "what if there was a problem" you would have to see a dr who might not be familiar with banding issues. He didn't have a problem doing it the Monday I got back, just not before, so I guess my suggestion is to check with your doctor to see what they suggest.

I am sure either way you will enjoy your vacation when ever it is!

Believe me, as much as I adore my trips to the caribbean, there is no way that I'd be ready to travel, but then again, I'm not quite a month out (tuesday!). I would definately believe that 8 weeks out I'd be fine.

Best bet - check with your doctor. Keep in mind, everyone heals and reacts differently. You'll want to be sure to travel someplace with good filtration, etc. You won't want to chance a hospital or doctor visit while you're in some of the Caribbean countries, while others have wonderful facilities. Where are you going? **I'm being nosey, but the Caribbean is my passion.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
