Shouldn't I atleast be excited!?

Recommended Posts

I just found out on Friday that my insurance was approved and I am scheduled for surgery on March 20th. That seems so fast to me. Shouldn't I feel excited instead of terrified?! Does that mean I am not really as serious about this as I should be...?

I was both excited and nervous, but kinda in shock I think. I remember just waking up in surgery and being like...That was it, I am done?

Everything will be ok as long as you listen to your doctor and have everything that you need before hand.

I think that almost everyone has "second thoughts" and "doubts" etc. once they closer to being banded. It's completely normal. If you feel serious doubts you can always postpone things. But just keep in mind that you will always feel this way just before surgery, no matter how many times you postpone it. It just comes with the territory. And as for feeling excited, you'll probably have those feelings too.

I remember.

I went to the seminar in May . Surgery (self pay) in July. I felt like it was too fast but I knew my history of diet and then gain it back was NOT going to change. That told me that even if I felt rushed I needed to grit my teeth and go thru it.

Money well spent.

I teetered back and forth between excited and terrified, sometimes moment to moment pre op.

Just think of what the future holds for you. "Money well spent" is the best quote here.

2 years post op.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
