I think I ticked off my pouch :(

Recommended Posts

I don't know why but for some reason, my pouch is not tolerating things very well today at all. About the only thing that it does like is a Protein Shake. It even complained about yogurt! I have had almost no problems at all with eating and have been very lucky. I don't know, maybe I pushed it too far too fast? At any rate, did anyone else have this problem and if so, how long did it take for it to calm down? Everything I eat today feels like I'm trying to shove a ping pong ball through a balloon!

I even threw up for the first time today eating something I've eaten several times just fine. It's not happy. I'm sticking to shakes for right now.

I would suggest you call your doc. Two things come to mind and both need your doc to help you out.

1. Possible stricture - if you are still able to get down Water this is less likely.

2. Grouchy pouchy time - you just need some meds to help.

I had grouchy pouchy starting at about 4 weeks lasting until about 3 months. I did not seek help until about 2.5 months post op. I just figured it was part of the process, but I sat in my docs office crying and he said lets get you some help. He ordered zofran and the reglan and the scapolimene patch. It finally started feeling better.

Hi. Your stomach is still relearning what it has to do. Don't worry it will/should settle. If it dose not chat with your doctor. All the best.

Thanks music and renjames. I can drink fine so I think it's just grouchy. I do have an appt tuesday so if it's not better by then I'll tell them. I think I maybe just ate too fast and made it cranky. I just didn't know it would stay cranky and even get mad at yogurt!

Oh beware of your pouch - it tends to hold grudges sometimes!

lol I'm finding that out. As much as I dont like this, it's a good thing really. I need to remember to slow down, chew well, and not push different foods too fast.

Lisa I had that problem at 7 weeks out and I had a stricture. I would suggest you call your doctor right away. Mine was so small I cold only get down liquids. The thickness of my Protein Shakes gave me nausea and vomiting. They had to go in 4 times to open mine. Not a big deal, but definitely needs to be dealt with.

Date of surgery 7/18/12.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
