Hi everone, And I hope all Is well with you all. My name is LaShauna I'm a newbie and I'm Just starting my journey I've went to the seminar already and now I'm waiting on the referral to see the surgeon I don't know when my 6 month weight loss visits start yet but I have a question I want to know how much does the nutritionist cost and how many times do you have to see them???? since I have to pay out of pocket because my insurance does not cover that.

Hi LaShauna! I'm in the pre op phase too. I'm hoping to have my surgery in October. My surgeon offered a dietician for $350 for all 3 visits. I'm not sure if all programs require 3 visits.

Welcome LaShaunda,

I too am pre op and just started my 6 month diet with my pcp. My surgical group offers all the dietician classes and appointments for $120 for life. But unfortunately, that varies from state to state.

Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. Good luck!

I am required to attend at least 3 support groups. I've gained so much knowledge from the groups that I try to attend a meeting at least once a week.

Wow this is my first time hearing of this meaning the support groups. They didn't speak of that at the seminar and the paper that I received like the checklist has nothing like that on there. Mabey I'll find out when I see the surgeon hey another question? At your first visit with the surgeon did you also see the nutritionist??? Or did you get a separate appointment for a consultation of how much was going to cost. I'm just trying to be prepared that's why I'm asking so many questions.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
